Our Mission
Home in America is a storytelling project about the many ways people live across the United States. From houseboats to RVs, every home has a story. Our mission is to listen, document, and share these stories - highlighting unique homes and the lives and challenges of the people who live in them.
Why This Project Matters
Housing is often talked about through numbers and statistics. But behind every number is a real person and a real home.
Home in America looks beyond data to focus on lived experience, sharing personal stories to build empathy, and connection across communities.
How We Work
We share stories of homes that look different from what many of us are used to:
Interviews – Personal conversations with individuals and families about their homes and lives.
Videography – Visual storytelling that captures living spaces, from small details to the full home.
Community Submissions – An open invitation for people to share their own stories online.
